STATION CASINOS HISTORY

Station Casinos was founded on July 1, 1976 when Frank Fertitta Jr. hired 90 employees and opened a 5,000 square foot entertainment venue (that is today Palace Station) named “The Casino” offering 100 slot machines and a snack bar. It quickly became a local’s hangout and due to its immediate popularity, more entertainment amenities were added and the property’s name evolved over the years to “Bingo Palace” and in 1984 with the addition of a hotel tower the Company settled on the name “Palace Station.” As the community grew, so did the Company. Fertitta’s sons Frank III and Lorenzo took over the Company in the early 90’s and grew it over the years into one of the largest gaming companies in Las Vegas that today has 18 properties and 13,000 team members throughout the Valley.

Station Casinos Receives Final Approvals for Restructuring

UPDATED JUNE 17, 2011: See Station Casinos Completes Restructuring.

LAS VEGAS – Station Casinos has received all of the approvals necessary to consummate its plan of reorganization. Following approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Wednesday, today the Nevada Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission voted unanimously to approve Station’s restructuring. These approvals clear the way for Station to emerge from bankruptcy as a financially stronger and healthier company.

The successful conclusion of the restructuring that began in July 2009 will result in the Company and its properties remaining together under the Station Casinos’ umbrella, the preservation of nearly 13,000 jobs, and Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta becoming the Company’s largest shareholders, owning 45 percent of the restructured Company. Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, together with their existing management team, will also remain the manager and operator of all of the properties, tribal partnerships and land holdings.

“In both good times and in bad, we have demonstrated our commitment to the Las Vegas community. From one small property with 90 team members in 1976 to 18 properties with over 13,000 team members today, we’ve always been committed to investing in Las Vegas,” said Frank Fertitta, CEO and Chairman of Station Casinos. “We sincerely thank our team members and guests for their support. It’s a great day for Station Casinos, our team members and the Las Vegas community,” Fertitta said.

As part of the plan of reorganization, Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta personally reinvested nearly $200 million of new capital into the Company and through successful negotiations with its lenders, restructured the Company’s debt.

The reorganization affirms that there will be no changes to the Company’s operations or entertainment offerings. The Company remains committed to providing the same great value, friendly service and high-quality entertainment for its guests as it has since its founding 35 years ago.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s approval of the plan of reorganization for Station’s operating subsidiaries was obtained on Wednesday, May 25, except for Green Valley Ranch Resort, which will require a follow up hearing in early June. It is anticipated that the restructuring transactions will close in the coming weeks.

Station Casinos LLC will own Boulder Station, Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho, Green Valley Ranch, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station, Texas Station, Days Inn at Wild Wild West and the Wildfire Gaming division that includes Barley’s Brewery, The Greens, Gold Rush, Lake Mead Lounge, Wildfire Casino & Lanes, Wildfire Boulder and Wildfire Rancho. The Company will also continue to manage Aliante Station pursuant to a management agreement. Additionally, Station Casinos LLC will continue to own various land holdings and continue to develop and/or manage four tribal gaming opportunities in California and Michigan pursuant to development and management agreements.

Watch UFC 130 in Las Vegas at Station Casinos

Oops! You found an older post.
Get it on over here for information about our UFC Viewing Parties for this weekend!

Eight great places to watch UFC 130 in Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend

WE WELCOME THE UFC back home to Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend with open arms. (Even the boxing fans, probably.) The UFC 130 fight card has changed a few times due to injuries, but that doesn’t mean it’s weak, by any means.

Knockout artist Rampage Jackson returns to the octagon to face a very tough wrestler in Matt Hamill. A couple Las Vegas locals do battle as well – heavyweights Frank Mir and Roy Nelson square off. Awhile back we wrote a pretty cool blog post about Frank Mir and his father, Frank II, who works at Station Casinos. (We Love UFC and you know We Love Locals, right?)

Also, don’t miss the always-exciting striker, Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story, and you gotta watch the 6’11 Skyscraper Struve. 135-pounders Miguel Angel Torres and Demetrious Johnson will be a 100-mph slugfest, no doubt.

See you at one of the Las Vegas UFC fight parties below, and don’t forget to check in on facebook and Tweet about the fights!

Previewing the ‘Revolution’ary Summer Shows at Red Rock

IF YOU GO to concerts in Vegas, we have probably bumped elbows, or for sure waited for a beverage in line together. See, I attend quite a few live shows. My wife and I catch around 60-70 concerts per year, give or take, in and around Vegas.

I think that’s why I have been asked to preview the summer series at Red Rock: Revolution – Party for the People. The series of Las Vegas concerts kicks off Memorial Day weekend, and I’m STOKED.  Call me biased because I work for Station Casinos if you want – but I’d be Red Rockin’ poolside this summer even if I didn’t. There’s a wide variety of great talent coming to entertain us – and the shows are all just $30!

Let’s face it: a lot of Las Vegans could use an affordable, warm night out under the stars with cold drinks, great music, and beautiful people.  That’s exactly what Judy Alberti, our Entertainment VP has line up for us this summer (check out her monthly blog).Oh yeah, and you got to like Red Rock on facebook because we’re giving away free tickets and stuff.

Here’s what you can expect, along with my 2 cents about each show:

5/27 – Barenaked Ladies. Revolution series’ kickoff bash.  This will be a big party, with great weather. Expect: lots of sing-a-longs. Except for that one song with the Chinese Chicken. I doubt many know the words. I sure don’t. Barenaked Ladies concert tickets

6/3 – Goo Goo Dolls. Expect: lots of beautiful ladies, fun couples, great rock music for the masses. You’ll know the songs from years of hits. Look forward to a perfect warm night of poolside music and happy people. Can’t beat that. Goo Goo Dolls concert tickets

Red Rock is offering a cool package deal where you get
2 free tickets with any Friday night stay!

6/10 – O.A.R. I’m really looking forward to seeing this band live. I recently watched an HDNet concert of theirs, and it was fantastic. They are known as one of the best performances you can catch. Think DMB/Phish vibe, lots of long, super funky guitar solos and killer harmonies. O.A.R. concert tickets

6/17 – Steel Pulse. I’m not a huge reggae fan, but I absolutely love reggae shows. I saw UB40 at the Red Rock pool a few years ago (before I worked for Station Casinos) and my friends and I had a blast. Reggae is good-time music. If you attend this show and you don’t have fun, you should check your pulse. Steel Pulse concert tickets

6/24 – Gavin DeGraw. Expect: groovy piano jams with fun, funky vocals. You’ll know the songs, and if you’re not sure, go to YouTube. His tunes are the ones with 4.8, 3.6, and 1.8 million views. Gavin DeGraw concert tickets

7/1 – Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. A friend and co-worker turned me on to GP & TN after her last visit to Las Vegas. He just said: go buy this album and see her next time they’re in town. I did, and I will. You should too, if you like great rock n roll music. Grace Potter concert tickets

7/8 – Puddle Of Mudd. Expect: loud, hot, and heavy. None of these are bad things. I recommend cutting loose and opening up to this type of band, if you don’t already. You’ll find that this is a very good, well-rounded band. I bet you’ll even find that you know more songs than you thought. Puddle Of Mudd concert tickets

7/15 – Neon Trees. Expect: big, beautiful crowd. Then Expect: to be humming their songs for a few days and weeks after the show.  They recently opened for The Killers and My Chemical Romance, and again, if you need a sample, check out YouTube. (Roughly 10 million other people did!) Neon Trees concert tickets

7/29 – Lifehouse. This is one of the biggest bands of the last 10 years. You’ll recognize many of their songs from rotation of our radio partner, Mix 94.1 here in Las Vegas, as well as various TV shows, like Smallville, Cold Case, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs and The Hills. Expect: big turnout, great party. You can already picture the ladies singing along in the pool, can’t ’cha? Lifehouse concert tickets

8/5 – Weezer. This series will end with a plaid-patterned, pocket-protected bang, friends. That’s because, frankly, Weezer is just that huge. Who knew “nerd-rock” was even a genre? I saw Weezer play at Vegoose a few years ago, and they made me into a fan. Expect: a sell-out. Expect: an awesome party. Expect: to know all the songs. Expect: to be blown away! Weezer concert tickets

Have you seen any of the bands in concert already? Which are you coming to for sure? … thinking about coming? Let me know below!

Rolex!

Final Table results from Red Rock (May 17-22)

Our pictures of Travis were horrible so here's a shot of the satellite tables at Red Rock. So sorry.

Congratulations Travis F. for becoming our fourth $60,000 winner!

Travis beat the biggest field of our four guaranteed $200,000 tournaments at Red Rock and joins our other three champions (see below) in the Championship Round at Red Rock, where the Grand Champion (we need a better title) will be decided from a field of 120 best-of-the-best on May 24 and 25. The Championship Round is another $200,000 tournament, with the top 12 spots cashing, and the winner getting nearly another $60,000 plus a Rolex watch.

If that “other” Vegas hold’em tournament has bracelet winners…we’re going to have a watch winner!

Can’t wait and good luck to the field!

  1. Travis F. $60,000
  2. Daniel O. $32,000
  3. Daniel C. $24,000

Final Table results from Sunset Station (May 10-15)

See ya in the Championship Round Chris!

Two reasons to be super excited about the results from the third Main Table this past weekend at Sunset Station:

  • Christopher P. outlasted our biggest field yet, over 200 entries, to become our third $60,000 winner. Congrats Christopher, who joins Mark I. and Frederick N. as our champs so far.
  • Our “Get Staked” facebook contest winner Jeff J. cashed! As you might remember, we backed one player in each of the four tournaments by paying their $1,100 entry fee into the Main Table. After Nick G. (at GVR) and Karen W. (at Palace) didn’t make it to the money, Jeff found the final table for a $4,000 “free roll” payday … and, no, he doesn’t have to pay us back! Congratulations and great job Jeff!
  1. Christopher P. $60,000
  2. Yehuda Y. $29,000
  3. Thomas K. $22,000
  4. Blake K. $18,000
  5. Simon L. $14,000
  6. Christopher P. $11,000
  7. Ran C. $8,500
  8. Assaf B. $6,000
  9. Jeff J. $4,000 (facebook winner!)
  10. Bryce D. $3,000

Onto The Turn, our fourth (and the last tournament you can buy in) with another guaranteed $200,000 prize pool is this week at Red Rock, followed by the Championship Round, also at Red Rock, on May 24 & 25 when someone is going to win another $60,000 and a sweet watch.

Final Table results from Palace Station (May 3-8)

$60,000 poker face from Mark!

Congratulations to Mark I., the winner of the second (of four) final table in our $1 Million No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments. Mark’s $60,000 first-place cash was part of the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool at Palace Station this weekend. Here’s the rest of the payouts from the Top 10:

  1. Mark I. $60,000
  2. Vincent M. $32,000
  3. Michael S. $24,000
  4. Chance K. $18,000
  5. Paul L. $15,000
  6. Frank A. $13,000
  7. Brian L. $10,000
  8. Frank T. $7,000
  9. Raymond W. $6,000
  10. David B. $4,000

No time to rest, another guaranteed $200,000 prize pool is in play this week at Sunset Station.

Good luck!

Our 2nd “Get Staked” Winner was Karen W., who finished out of the money.

Final Table results from Green Valley Ranch (April 26-May 1)

Frederick took home top cash with a tournament winning hand of KC-QC.

  9. Sonja J. $6,000

Our 1st “Get Staked” Winner was Nick G. Unfortunately, Nick only lasted about 45 minutes but reportedly had great fun.

LAS VEGAS – With the first $60,000 winner already decided, Station Casinos $1 Million No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments are ready to shuffle up and deal again this weekend at Palace Station Hotel Casino.

In the event’s first tournament at Green Valley Ranch (April 26 – May 1), Frederick Narciso played KC-QC into the winning hand and cashed the first-place amount of $60,000 from the event’s $200,000 prize pool. The nearly five-week poker event now shifts locations to Palace Station.

“Outside the World Series of Poker, we think it’s the best Hold’em Tournament in Las Vegas and the biggest Station Casinos has ever held,” Station Casinos Poker Tournament Director Derek Glover said. “If you can’t afford the buy-ins for the upcoming WSOP, we have three buy-in options starting at the $85 Single-Table Satellite level. Not bad for a shot at at least $60,000.”

Station Casinos is also awarding a “free roll” in each week’s tournament via a “Get Staked” contest on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/sunsetstation), looked for the “Get Staked” tab, where online contestants answer: Why should you be backed in the tournament? The winner gets the $1,100 Main Table buy-in paid for in that week’s tournament.

The Station Casinos $1 Million No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments’ (www.StationCasinosPoker.com) remaining dates and locations, including the Championship Tournament event, are as follows:

  • At Palace Station: qualifying May 3 – 6 with Main Table May 7 & 8
  • At Sunset Station: qualifying May 10 – 13 with Main Table May 14 & 15
  • At Red Rock Resort: qualifying May 17 – 20 with Main Table May 21 & 22
  • Championship Tournament: May 24 & 25 at Red Rock Resort
