Seven UFC 144 Viewing Parties In Las Vegas

THE MAIN EVENTS for UFC 144 will get their share of the headlines, including a highly anticipated lightweight title fight and the return of the all-time Japanese crowd pleaser Quinton Rampage Jackson. You’re in for a great fight card top to bottom this weekend at our UFC 144 Viewing Parties in Las Vegas. The UFC has pulled out all the stops for this highly significant return to martial arts sacred ground. Several of Japan’s best fighters are showcased on this card, plus two fighters will return from the losing end of recent title fights. Jake Sheilds and Yushin Okami both have their backs to the wall and need impressive performances.

The main event between reigning lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and #1 contender Benson Henderson could turn into a marathon. Each fighter possess a huge gas tank and a solid chin. The co-main event could be the mirror image, however. With light heavyweights Rampage Jackson and Ryan Bader clashing, this fight is likely to be significantly shorter in duration. Have your beers in hand for this one before round one is officially “dinged”.

Edgar and Henderson are both extremely fast and tough cardio warriors who like to take their opponent’s game apart methodically while keeping them guessing over the course of many action packed rounds. Rampage and Bader likely just want to bang it out. Rampage is royalty in Japan, a major star who wants an exciting fight even more than he wants the win. Stemming back from his prime in the formerly prominent PRIDE organization, there is an entire nation of MMA fans waiting to welcome him “home”. Both Jackson and Bader bring a monster right hand shot, and with that a potential one punch finish to their rival’s evening.

My pick for the DON’T BLINK fight of the night is Anthony Pettis vs. Joe Lauzon. Pettis is famous for flying off the cage and landing a head kick to main event participant Benson Henderson in their earlier bout for the WEC title (see it at the end of this post). Meanwhile, his opponent Joe Lauzon just collects “fight of the night” bonuses for a living. Seriously, blink and you might miss this one!

Where to Watch UFC 143 in Las Vegas

WE KNOW THERE’S a little something going on this Sunday night in the sports world – but that doesn’t discount another super event here in Las Vegas this Saturday night. Not long ago, the UFC 143 main event could have been considered a welterweight title unification bout. Ex-Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz will be in a brawl vs. Ex-WEC champ Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight belt. The winner goes up against UFC 170-lb. champ, Georges St. Pierre to unify the belt – presumably later this year after GSP recovers from an injury.

Several great fights are lined up on the fight card for UFC 143. My picks for DON’T BLINK fights are Josh Koscheck vs. Mike Pierce and local fighter Roy “Big Country” Nelson vs. Fabricio Verdum in what’s sure to be a heavyweight slugfest. Koscheck gets a lot of boos, but the fact is, he’s a well-rounded vet wrestler who’s not afraid to bang, and Mike Pierce is an up and coming guy who just beat up a very tough Jon Fitch. Roy Nelson is a lean machine now, and he’s hungry for a title shot. Verdum has fought the top heavyweights in several organizations, so… you know, don’t blink.

Where to Watch UFC Rio in Las Vegas

THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, January 14, at UFC Rio, we’ll see the dynamic speed, skill and power that the best two UFC Featherweights have. Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes is the main event Saturday night in Brazil, and we’re sure it won’t disappoint. The fighters have very different styles, but both are at the top of their game. Many of the fans (including the ones in our office!) are just as excited to see if Vitor Belfort can get back on track at middleweight vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

WE’RE BETTING THE swelling isn’t even gone from last weekend’s epic FOX Debut Fights, and we’re ready for more! Yes, tt’s been a busy month for the UFC, and that’s completely okay with fight fans like us. Especially the long-time fans who know how long this main event has been in the making. Shogun Rua and Dan Henderson square off Saturday and it’s going to be one you don’t want to miss. Hendo returns to the UFC after finishing off Fedor in Strikeforce in very impressive fashion. Shogun took out Forrest Griffin brutally in Brazil not long ago. Now they’re ready for the next step towards fighting for Jon “Bones” Jones’ UFC Light-Heavyweight belt.

UPDATE: Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock Viewing Parties are $10, not $20 like previous events.

UFC on FOX Fight Parties at Station Casinos

UFC IS ON Fox for the first time ever, and you can watch it with your favorite Fox 5 TV personalities at two Station Casinos in Las Vegas. Westside MMA fans can join the party at Cherry inside Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa, while our eastside friends can watch at Club Madrid inside Sunset Station.

Here’s the official announcement from UFC President, Dana White.

Doors open, drink specials and UFC merch giveaways will start at 5pm. Our partners from Fox 5 will be broadcasting live at 5:30. Olivia Fierro & Dave Hall, along with Denise Pernula, will be live from Cherry at Red Rock, and Jon Castagnino & Claudine Grant will be broadcasting from Club Madrid. We’ll have live interviews from the fights in Anaheim as well as some of the UFC’s greatest hits (literally) before the main event.

EVERY TIME WE see a fighter back out due to injury, fight fans wonder if the card is worth checking out or not. Personally, every time I say that, I see an incredible night of fights! Lesson: don’t doubt the guys setting up these fights. They know how to build exciting match ups. (If they didn’t, they’d be working for those other MMA organizat… wait. Nevermind).

Yes, this fight card has seen some changes, and no matter if you love him or hate him, Nick Diaz ended up in the Main Event after all, which is something UFC fans have been eagerly anticipating. UFC legend, fan favorite and former multiple weight class title holder, BJ Penn squares off against Diaz (former Strikeforce champ) next Saturday in Las Vegas. There’s some great fights on the undercard, too. Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo will be a slugfest! Join us at 7 Station Casinos locations (below) to watch with us on Pay Per View. Watch UFC 136 in Las Vegas at Six Station Casinos

TWO TITLE FIGHTS are on the line on Saturday, October 8th at UFC 136, which is rare for one event. Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar 3 is going to be a GREAT battle for Las Vegas UFC fans to watch. The last fight was a thrilling 5-round Lightweight title-fight draw! (As Joe Rogan says, “very rare.”) Maynard’s got grit and wrestling like very few fighters and Edgar has some of the quickest feet & strikes of anyone in MMA. Gonna be really good. Featherweights and fan-favorites Jose Aldo and Kenny Florian go at each other for the 145-lb. belt, and will have an incredible pace that could double as a Jiu-Jitsu clinic. UFC 135 Fight Parties in Las Vegas at Station Casinos

JONES VS. RAMPAGE is going to be a wild fight on September 24th. Rampage is a legendary striker who can end a fight in the blink of an eye. Jon Jones has a mile-long wingspan that can tie a guy in knots with his Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling skills. Who goes home with the UFC Light Heavyweight belt?

That’s just the main event, friends. There’s several other key fights on this card that make it worth the trip to see us at any of the Station Casinos UFC 135 Fight Parties. Diaz vs. Gomi is my pick for fight of the night. Both guys have heart and a track record for finishing exciting fights. Tack on another 100 lbs. for the Heavyweights, Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt. These guys are huge, and they’re looking to move up in the ranks.
