At Aliante Station

All Flappers are invited as impersonator Tom Stevens headlines a New York-style Speakeasy party with dinner and dancing in the Scottsdale Ballroom.
Aliante will also host the fun-filled KCEP-FM 88.1 New Year’s Gala Fundraiser. Special package deals for the fundraiser, which include a hotel room on New Year’s Eve, are still available here.

At Boulder Station

Yellow Brick Road will be rockin’ in 2010 with a special performance at the Railhead.
Van De Guzman will be providing live entertainment at Kixx Bar when the clock strikes midnight.

At Green Valley Ranch

Count down to the New Year with a live concert from Sin City Sinners in the Ovation Lounge. Special guests include Dizzy Reed of Guns N’ Roses along with hosts Vinny Paul of Pantera and Brandi M from Rock of Love.

If you like the Blues, I’ve got the hot tip of the week. Walter Trout will be burning up The Railhead at Boulder Station at 8pm on Thursday and Texas Station’s South Padre on Friday at 9:30pm. And get this: it’s FREE! No cover. Zip. Nada. Bupkis!

When it comes to hard Blues, Walter’s the real thing. He’s played with John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, Percy Mayfield, Joe Tex, Jeff Healey, Coco Montoya, Richie Hayward, Guitar Shorty, James Harman, John Mayhall’s Blues Breakers (like Clapton & Page), and too many others to mention. His version of Hendrix’s Red House will blow you away. I used to go see him all the time at Perk’s in Huntington Beach, and you can bet I’ll be at South Padre Friday night.

Oh yeah, if you have sensitive ears, wear some plugs because Walter likes to turn it up!

Vegas Milestone: Boulder Station Celebrates 15 Years

15-YEAR ANNIVERSARY. The team has become a "second family" for many of the 150 employees who have worked at the casino on Boulder Highway since it opened in August 1993.

Boulder Station opened its doors to the city of Las Vegas on August 23, 1993. Fifteen wonderful years after that historic day, our property still continues to be a leading contender along the Boulder Highway. More importantly, more than 150 of the original Team Members who helped with the opening proudly remain dedicated to supporting and providing service to our guests.

On August 23, 2009, our Station Casinos Team Members were treated to brunch. The menu included eggs Benedict, carved ham, seasoned potatoes, as well as other delicious food. A special event was planned for our Team Members who have been with the company for 15 years or longer. The festivities were held in the Railhead and Team Members feasted on a gourmet menu that featured grilled steak medallions, chicken Marsala, sautéed asparagus, and much more!

General Manager Don Richardson invited Team Members to say a few words on their fondest memories while working at Boulder Station. Tears were shed and the laughter was contagious, but the constant message resonated through each speech was that “Boulder Station was a second family.”

The evening ended with a raffle where each Team Member was given a small token of appreciation. As one Team Member stated, “I will work for Boulder Station for 15 more years and 15 more years after that!”

Earn Your Free Roll at the $300,000 Las Vegas Poker Plus Tournament

NO BUY-IN REQUIRED: 50 hours at the table will get you into January's big tournament, where the top cash will be $40,000.

While that other famous poker tournament readies next week to shuffle up and deal its final table, Station Casinos is set to start our own big-money Las Vegas poker tournament.

Qualifying for the $300,000 Poker Plus Tournament starts this Sunday (Nov. 1), and runs until December 31 at all participating Station Casinos poker rooms. Basically, players need to be dealt in at one of our poker tables for 50 hours (one long session for some players) during the two-month span to qualify for the big Texas Hold’em tournament, which will be held Jan. 9 and 10, 2010 at Texas Station.

“There is no buy-in; just log 50 hours of live action on your Boarding Pass,” said Mike Doe, poker manager at Red Rock Resort. “All players that play the tournament are guaranteed at least $75 when they are eliminated from the tournament.” Additionally, qualifying comp points will be awarded at the rate of 600 points per hour during the next two months, while from 3am through 9am points will be awarded at a rate of 1,800 points per hour.

Doe said he will be rooting for short-stacked Phil Ivey to win that other tournament’s main event bracelet because Mr. Ivey is an occasional guest on the Red Rock gaming floor. Will Ivey, often regarded as the best poker player in the world, get a seat at Station Casinos’ $300,000 Poker Plus Tournament?

“Only if he qualifies,” Doe said.
