It’s a big weekend for the UFC, with back to back cards this Friday and Saturday. It gets going with UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida, a free fight card that is packed with all but certain fireworks in the Main Event and throughout. The final match of the Sam Stout vs. Spencer Fisher trilogy is a guaranteed barnburner too. Fan favorites Ross Pearson, Cub Swanson, Matt Brown, Dan Miller and Rick Story are all scheduled to fight.  This free UFC on FX fight card can be viewed at any Station Casinos Sports book. Don’t miss it!

On Saturday night, an epic rematch is set for a live from Brazil Pay-Per-View, UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II. Despite suffering the disappointment of yet another high profile fight being disrupted due to injury (Silva’s initial opponent Vitor Belfort withdrew), the UFC has yet again turned lemons into ‘Mike’s Hard Lemonade’ by replacing Belfort with an equally big name and equally dangerous veteran in Franklin.

The change of plans has also resulted in an unusual catch-weight scenario (a rare 190 lbs limit), one that fits Franklin’s ‘modus operandi’ to a tee, yet should be no hindrance whatever to Wanderlei who fought well for many years above his more natural 185 division. Franklin is seen as the ideal 190-195 pounder, and a likely champion of that hypothetical division were it to exist.

Watch the extended UFC: 147 Silva vs. Franklin II Preview

Watch the full UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida Preview

This 5 rounder is unlikely to go that long, so be careful about your bathroom breaks. Each fighter has KO power and the tenacity to stand and trade at the highest level, so a decision is unlikely. There’s a lot at stake for each, with many armchair warriors having called for ‘Wand’ to call it a day for several years now (out of admiration, not disrespect in most cases).

Franklin is not exactly in that territory yet with several extremely impressive performances in the last 3 years, but Franklin still is edging toward his curtain call with the unlikelihood of his returning to 185 lbs and very little chance of winning a title at 205 lbs (where champions nowadays tend to ‘walk around’ at 230 lbs).

Despite the obstacles, with a decisive win either man can become an extremely hot commodity at either 185 or 205lbs, just ask Dan Henderson who performed exactly that ‘back from the dead’ trick with just 2 impressive wins over top names.

As expected, the balance of the card is dominated by Brazilian fighters. It is after all broadcasting from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Fight fans will recognize ‘Top 10’ Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum in the co-main event as he undertakes a serious test against Mike Russow.  A ton of up and coming Brazilian killers fill out the card. The casual fan will not recognize the names of many of these South American maulers, but the skill level of all is ‘par-excellence’.

UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II Live on PPV from Brazil will be shown at 5 separate Fight Parties throughout the Las Vegas Valley. See the Station Casinos Fight Party list below and choose your favorite spot to watch all the live action go down on Saturday night!

Hot in Slots: ‘The Summer (2012) of Jackpots’ Edition

The endless summer has ended, this latest Hot in Slots post is newer

FIRST, LET’S WRAP up the Cadillacs and Cash promotions from May where there were many winners and smiling faces.

Next, in June many of our casinos are holding Free (open-to-the-public, anyone-with-a-card-can-play) Video Poker Tournaments.

OK, onto the greatest and latest slot machines in Las Vegas now, or soon to be, on our casino floors.

At this time, we can also share some info about “upcoming” new slots and releases:

  • The new Superman from Aristocrat should be landing on our floors by the end of June.
  • The new Michael Jackson game will install at all our casinos sometime in July. The MJ game is still pending gaming approval so we don’t have a firm date yet.
  • And we think the new Gone With The Wind theme is happening this summer, once approved.

One more thing, you can play/practice your Video Poker skills on all our facebook pages.

As always, if you have any questions … let us know below … and gooood luck!

Of course Super Jose is playing the new Superman at Fiesta Rancho with his lucky t-shirt!

Elvis is in the building … at Fiesta Henderson (above) and Red Rock Resort. More of our casinos will be adding as well in June. We used one of those iPhone apps for this pic. Thank you, thank you very much.

Clue is now at Sunset Station as well as at Boulder, Fiesta Henderson, Red Rock, Santa Fe, Sunset and Texas.

Santa Fe Station is the first casino in the world! with Monster Jackpots slots from WMS Gaming … fun video …

Time for a winner: Kevin won $10,000 playing Double Bucks at Sunset.

In our Spring 2012 post, a couple folks asked about “eCraps.” So, at the time of this post, we have electronic craps at GVR (video), Red Rock, Santa Fe & Sunset with Boulder Station coming soon. Let it roll…

Texas Station Slot Director Rick Scheer likes “Sheer Magic” from Ainsworth because it’s a homophone with his name. Homophone, is that the correct word? Anyway, Ainsworth is new to Nevada and Station Casinos has the most Ainsworth-themed games in Las Vegas.

We like this one for the 4th of July. No draw needed at Fiesta Henderson.

Red Rock’s new “Beat the Field” has a horse-racing theme … I’ll Have Another jackpot please!

IGT’s Wheel Of Fortune Triple Extreme just installed at Barley’s, which by the way has the best beer ever.

New King Of Dragons & Bamboo Panda at Wildfire Lanes.

Take your shot at Big Buck Hunter at Santa Fe Station.

Six new Spielo games at Boulder Station in front of the Railhead.

Mick asked about Super Team in our last Hot in Slots. Well, here it is at Santa Fe … Red Rock and Boulder, too.

Da Dum, Da Dum, Da Dum, Da Dum … Red Rock got Jaws.

… and Outback Jack

Red Rock also just added Aladdin …

First-of-its-Kind Multi-Property Linked Progressive for Blackjack

LAS VEGAS – Blackjack enthusiasts have a new way to win more money at more locations, with Station Casinos linking Shuffle Master’s Hit and Run® $1 side bet at nine of its properties: Boulder Station, Fiesta Henderson, Fiestas Rancho, Green Valley Ranch resort, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station. Station Casinos is the first gaming company in Las Vegas to link properties at several locations to a single progressive blackjack jackpot.

To become eligible for the progressive, players may make a $1 side bet when they place their main wager. The Hit and Run® progressive bet is based solely on the dealer’s hand. Players win if the dealer hits blackjack or the dealer’s hand consists of five or more cards (including if the last card busts the dealer’s hand). With the dealer showing blackjack, a player will receive a $4 win. If the dealer’s hand consists of between five and eight cards, the winning ratio begins at $7 and pays as high as $100 or $200 depending on number of decks at that game, and if the dealer’s hand has eight or more cards, the progressive jackpot will be paid. When the progressive is hit, and multiple players placed the side bet, the pot is split amongst the players at the winning table. As of May 25, the progressive jackpot on Station Casinos Double Deck Hit and Run® games is now over $10,500 and the Shoe Hit and Run games are over $15,400.

Station Casinos has offered similar blackjack progressives, however, the jackpots only built within individual properties. Based on the success and popularity of those blackjack progressives, Station Casinos decided to link multiple properties to the Hit and Run® progressive games.

The move follows the recent successful linking of properties for the Fortune Pai Gow Poker® progressive jackpot earlier in the year. Since linking all Station Casinos and Fiesta properties, more than $1 million has been paid to players through Fortune Pai Gow Poker® progressive side bets.

“Station Casinos has been an industry-leader in their commitment to enhancing table games player’s experiences by offering exciting progressive jackpots across multiple properties,” said Gavin Isaacs, Chief Executive Officer of Shuffle Master. “We’re delighted with Station’s success in linking Fortune Pai Gow Poker® Progressive across 10 properties and we are excited to expand the inter-casino linked concept to include Hit and Run® Progressive for blackjack.”
