It’s a big weekend for the UFC, with back to back cards this Friday and Saturday. It gets going with UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida, a free fight card that is packed with all but certain fireworks in the Main Event and throughout. The final match of the Sam Stout vs. Spencer Fisher trilogy is a guaranteed barnburner too. Fan favorites Ross Pearson, Cub Swanson, Matt Brown, Dan Miller and Rick Story are all scheduled to fight.  This free UFC on FX fight card can be viewed at any Station Casinos Sports book. Don’t miss it!

On Saturday night, an epic rematch is set for a live from Brazil Pay-Per-View, UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II. Despite suffering the disappointment of yet another high profile fight being disrupted due to injury (Silva’s initial opponent Vitor Belfort withdrew), the UFC has yet again turned lemons into ‘Mike’s Hard Lemonade’ by replacing Belfort with an equally big name and equally dangerous veteran in Franklin.

The change of plans has also resulted in an unusual catch-weight scenario (a rare 190 lbs limit), one that fits Franklin’s ‘modus operandi’ to a tee, yet should be no hindrance whatever to Wanderlei who fought well for many years above his more natural 185 division. Franklin is seen as the ideal 190-195 pounder, and a likely champion of that hypothetical division were it to exist.

This 5 rounder is unlikely to go that long, so be careful about your bathroom breaks. Each fighter has KO power and the tenacity to stand and trade at the highest level, so a decision is unlikely. There’s a lot at stake for each, with many armchair warriors having called for ‘Wand’ to call it a day for several years now (out of admiration, not disrespect in most cases).

Franklin is not exactly in that territory yet with several extremely impressive performances in the last 3 years, but Franklin still is edging toward his curtain call with the unlikelihood of his returning to 185 lbs and very little chance of winning a title at 205 lbs (where champions nowadays tend to ‘walk around’ at 230 lbs).

Despite the obstacles, with a decisive win either man can become an extremely hot commodity at either 185 or 205lbs, just ask Dan Henderson who performed exactly that ‘back from the dead’ trick with just 2 impressive wins over top names.

As expected, the balance of the card is dominated by Brazilian fighters. It is after all broadcasting from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Fight fans will recognize ‘Top 10’ Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum in the co-main event as he undertakes a serious test against Mike Russow.  A ton of up and coming Brazilian killers fill out the card. The casual fan will not recognize the names of many of these South American maulers, but the skill level of all is ‘par-excellence’.

UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II Live on PPV from Brazil will be shown at 5 separate Fight Parties throughout the Las Vegas Valley. See the Station Casinos Fight Party list below and choose your favorite spot to watch all the live action go down on Saturday night!

UFC 145 Viewing Parties in Las Vegas

UFC 145 JONES vs. Evans is one of the most anticipated MMA cards of 2012 and might only be surpassed for the year in terms of buzz by the upcoming June rematch between the world’s greatest fighter Anderson Silva and his constant foil, Chael Sonnen.

Jones vs. Evans is in no short supply of drama in its own right. With a long history as teammates, a very public falling out and subsequent bad blood, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has ample motivation to protect his title from the former Champ in Rashad Evans.

The exciting lineup of fights also includes an intriguing heavyweight match between Brendan Schaub and Ben Rothwell, a meaningful bout for the title picture in the Welterweight division between Rory MacDonald and Che Mills, as well as a return to the fold bout for former WEC Bantamweight Champ (and recent UFC pariah) Miguel Torres.

Former TUF contestants Matt Brown and Mac Danzig also make return appearances against Stephen Thompson and Efrain Escudero, respectively. Don’t miss another stacked UFC Pay Per View Card and one of the most significant title bouts of 2012 when UFC 145 goes live this Saturday. Find all your relevant UFC Fight Party viewing information below the video preview, and we’ll see you at your favorite Station Casinos location!

MMA FANS KNOW that UFC 119 is a fight card that might be overlooked by some fans – but don’t make that mistake – there’s some great match-ups here. This is an event that has kept the MMA rumor sites guessing throughout the summer. For those of you who don’t follow, we’ll try to sum it up for you as quickly as possible:

There’s these two big scary Brazilian brothers, both named Antonio Nogiera (I know, it’s weird) so they go by “Big Nog” (Heavyweight) and “Little Nog” (Light Heavyweight) to make it easier on us Americans. Big Nog was to fight Frank Mir in the main event. Little Nog was the co-main event vs. Ryan Bader. Little Nog’s won 7 straight fights. Bader’s 12-0 and the winner of the Ultimate Fighter show a couple seasons ago. Both are gnarly fighters on a roll, in other words.

Then Big Nog gets hurt in practice, so Croatian kickboxer and Pride Fighting legend, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovich agreed to step in and give it a go. He’s got tree trunks for legs, and used to be a Croatian Special Forces Law Enforcement Officer. Cro Cop vs. Mir might be the one of the most quotable fights ever. Cro Cop is known for an all-time great pre-fight threat: “Right leg hospital. Left leg cemetery.” Frank Mir went on the record recently saying that Cro Cop can “kick your head into the bleachers.” Two other Ultimate Fighter show alumni, CB Dollaway and Matt Mitrione, will try to climb the ranks in their fights on Saturday night. The rest of the fight card showcases what’s awesome about the middle weight classes of the UFC – anything can happen.  Sean Sherk, Melvin Guillard, Matt Serra and Chris Lytle can either knock their opponents out, or tie them in knots. Anybody’s guess which strategy they pick this Saturday night in Indy.

You can watch UFC 119 in Las Vegas at five Station Casinos locations at Viewing Parties on Saturday, September 25th, live on Pay-Per-View from the Conseco Field House in Indianapolis, Indiana.
