GREG FITZSIMMONS HAS been extremely busy “whoring myself out for the past 20 years,” so the SC Blog was shocked – ahem, make that thrilled – when he gave us a 15-minute phone interview from his home in Venice Beach, Calif. to talk about his Nov. 5 comedy appearance at Sunset Station’s Club Madrid.

A familiar face from VH1’s Best Week Ever, numerous appearances on late night talk shows and two standup specials on Comedy Central, it might be a bit surprising that the NYC native says most people recognize him by “my voice.”

Fitzsimmons’ bi-weekly podcast FITZDOGRADIO is one of the most downloaded on iTunes. He has made more than 60 visits on The Howard Stern Show and hosts his own weekly radio show on Sirius XM’s Howard 101. A four-time Daytime Emmy Award winner as a writer/producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Fitzsimmons’ first book, Dear Mrs. Fitzsimmons, is due for release by Simon and Schuster on November 9.

We told you the dude was busy.

“The book shows that I pretty much did the opposite of everything that I was told to do my entire life,” he said.

Somewhat of a “King of All Media” himself, Fitzsimmons tweets, or as he says, “spews.” He also has a facebook page, of course.

“I remember when following someone was a bad thing,” he said.

Fitzsimmons is no stranger to Las Vegas (see video below). He had a gig at Harrah’s. He most recently played the Palms. “I even had my bachelor party in Vegas,” said the father of two, Owen, 10, and daughter JoJo, 7. His show at Club Madrid marks his first time playing a Station Casinos club.

“Hey, I love Henderson,” said Fitzsimmons, flashing a little local’s knowledge. “I’m always psyched for a Vegas show.”

Plum out of any more interesting interview questions, the SC Blog asked Fitzsimmons what question he would like to be asked by the media as he embarks on a book-signing tour.

“I would like to be asked what I do when groupies approach me after a show,” he quickly replied. “Because that might make some groupies approach me after a show.”
