The Best Hotel Experience Excels At Making You Feel At Home

WHEN WAS THE last time someone made you feel at home during your travels?

I have stayed at hundreds of hotels, some big and some small. Some have been expensive and some of them were dirt cheap! But it was the hotel where I had little to no expectations that I enjoyed my stay the most.

Think back to all the times you have stayed at a hotel. What do you remember most about the best stay you ever had? Did you pay a king’s ransom and expect a great stay only to be underwhelmed? By contrast, is there a limited service gem in your past travels that surpassed all your expectations because the hospitality you experienced made a lasting impression? No doubt it was the staff that made the difference, not simply by making you feel special, but also by making you feel at home.

It is my singular goal to ensure that our hotels are providing an experience that you can tell your friends about. It’s not just about the amenities, the beautiful weather or the many options our properties have to offer. It’s entirely because of our people.

Our Team Members are the lifeblood of our company. Without them, who could provide such great service? If you have stayed with us before, whether just once or a hundred times, what experiences can you share?

Welcome…. Home!

Our First Social: Fans, Cake & Mustaches

LAST SATURDAY MARKED the launch of our Stations Socials – periodic events designed for us connect with our online fans and followers for some shop-talk, drinks and laughs. Judging from the feedback we are receiving on twitter and facebook, we’re onto something pretty cool.

If you’ve never been to a meet-up (or, for our twitter users, a “tweetup”), you should know that it’s sometimes kind of awkward at first. Many fans & followers know one another by online nicknames, tiny pictures or even logos, but this is the first time they meet IRL (In Real Life). Others are old friends from previous get-togethers. Each is a representative & spokesperson for their beloved followers, be it five or 50,000.

Our team received a tip that one of our guests, Chris (a.k.a @24k) had a birthday last weekend. Sunset Station‘s Marketing and Food & Beverage teams went above and beyond to build a delicious monster-sized birthday cake and helped us arrange a backstage meet & greet with Nawgahyde – Sunset Station’s most outrageous rock band. We were really lucky to have the ‘Nawg on board with this event. Nawgahyde plays a truly jaw-dropping show every Saturday in Club Madrid to a packed house, so it was an easy choice for the setting for our debut tweetup. (Check out my review of a past Nawgahyde show here).

These events are a great time, but they’re not all fun & games. The serious message we want to send is that Station Casinos realizes our social fans are not simply numbers. We always do our best to connect with you on a personal level and listen to what you have to say (trust us: the feedback we receive is not always pretty – but it’s never ignored). What we know for sure is this: our fans are really FANS!

Although social media is relatively fresh in the gaming industry, we’re lucky that we didn’t have to start our network from scratch. We kind of had a 33-year head start. Station Casinos has built a family of Las Vegas-area guests who love to stay and play with us week after week. This, in part, makes it easy for us to reward fans with good times and great deals. Moving forward, we assure you that we’re listening to where and how these rewards occur.

In the meantime, you should get connected, if you’re not already. Entertainment has rewards for any music lover – ask the winner of $200 Smokey Robinson tickets. Everybody loves a great steak – especially the 6 (and counting) steak-dinner-winners from the Charcoal Room from our Food & Beverage Department. Our rewards are not just for locals. Our facebook fans are booking offers “For Our Fans Only” all the time, courtesy of our Hotel Directors.

Please leave us comments and let us know where you would like to see a future social meetup. When you would like to attend, and what types of perks you’d like to enjoy while you’re there. We always have things in the works – so, again, stay connected with us on twitter and facebook so you don’t miss our next event, giveaway or hotel offer!

I might be a redneck, thanks to Nawgahyde

Seriously hilarious. Nawgahyde rocks Club Madrid every Saturday at Sunset Station.

Seriously hilarious. Nawgahyde rocks Club Madrid every Saturday at Sunset Station.

When I heard there was a band named “Nawgahyde” starting on Saturdays at Club Madrid, I wasn’t sure what type of music to expect. Was it metal? Was it gangsta rap? A DJ? As soon as I saw the promotional materials, though – no further questions. The “Kickass Mustache Rock” signs made me chuckle, and instantly reminded me of the old “Freedom Rock” commercials from the 90′s:

“Heyyyy, man… Is that Freedom Rock?”

“Yeaaaahhh, man.”

“Well, turrrrn it up, man!”

I had to see this band in person.

Last Saturday night, a small group of friends and I drove to Sunset Station in Henderson to “get our asses kicked” by Nawgahyde. We arrived a little early and enjoyed drink specials brought to us by the lovely Toni Ann, who donned country-girl attire in theme with that night’s Daisy Duke Look-alike Contest. (I didn’t look at the short shorts, I swear!)

The classic 80′s metal videos on the big screens in Club Madrid set the mood leading up to the show. Visuals from Iron Maiden, Van Halen and Poison turned the conversation to David Lee Roth’s tights, Twisted Sister’s makeup, and Bret Michaels and his Aqua Net. Soon after, Big Mex, host of Outlaw Radio on KOMP 92.3, The Rock Station, took the stage to introduce the Nawg.

Initially, you’ll laugh. Wait, what am I saying? You’ll laugh all night. Brothers Dallas and Houston Texas don’t miss an opportunity to insult one another, while Drummer Skeeter uses his CB to “copy that” each time he agrees. There are a few breaks between sets, when the audience members are invited on stage to participate in pranks, contests and general mayhem, reminiscent of a Dukes Of Hazzard episode.

Here’s the real deal, though: these guys seriously rock! While the comedy is thick, the riffs of 70′s and 80′s rock classics are no joke. The crowd, like my guests, may have been a bit skeptical at first. After all, Nacho, the guitarist, looks as if he’s asleep on stage at first – until he starts ripping into solos like Iron Man by Black Sabbath, or Boston’s More Than a Feeling, and classics from ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, and you know there’s some Skynyrd.

You’d definitely get your money’s worth – if you had to pay. It’s a FREE SHOW! All the more reason to trim up that mustache and “git on down” to Sunset Station with your friends on Saturday nights to get your asses kicked for yourselves.
